Why accredit?

Accreditation independently demonstrates compliance with an established set of program requirements.  It conveys excellence by ensuring that the fellowship program and its directors are technically competent and possess the relevant experience and clinical expertise to direct the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship program.

The accreditation process.

Step 1

Contact ACPSE to determine your eligibility and request an application.

At this time, ACPSE accreditation is limited to programs that are directed by Fellow members of the AAFPRS.

Accreditation applications are due by April 1 each year.

Step 2

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed and evaluated by a designated ACPSE FRC reviewer.

Following the reviewer's review of the application, the application will be presented to the ACPSE Fellowship Review Committee (ACPSE FRC) for a recommendation decision to present to the ACPSE Board.

The application is then presented to the ACPSE Board for final accreditation approval determination.  The final decision to accredit a program lies with the Board and is made at the annual meeting each year.

Step 3

Once your program receives approval for accreditation you will be eligible to select a fellow to start in July of the next fellowship year.  Rules and requirements must be followed for selection of a fellow outside the match.

Fellows are otherwise selected by a match process.  Fellow applicant applications are due February 1 of each year, interviews are scheduled March 1st through May 31st.  The match is conducted the first week of June.  Match results are revealed the second week of June.
